DECATS philanthropy is themed throughout the entire camp. Our goal by the end of DECATS is to raise the most money we can to donate to Audrey Vlk, a past DECATS students who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. All of the money that we raise will go to her. We raised money through dodge ball, concession stands, and the dance. Money earned on concessions is to be determined, but we fundraised 1300 dollars in dance money participation. An approximate value of money earned for dodge ball is 150 dollars.
An elective that you could take the first week of DECATS was called Community Service. Many students were in the elective and did philanthropy in the area around All Saints. The students volunteered at a nursing home across the street and helped the elderly. They visited with the residents and made door hangers. They became familiar with the people there and helped for a good cause.
